Praise dance is an expression of faith, but worship dance is an expressive response to God's presence. God is the creator who created us to be creative. He is the giver and creator of life. If we simply create with our intellect, while we praise dance, we are acting out by faith. God does honor our faith with His presence. However, it is then our responsibility, as worship dancers, to respond to His presence creatively out of our spirit. This will likewise produce life for the on-looker. This in no way negates obtaining or maintaining a spirit of excellence. This does pose a challenge, however, to both the skilled dancer as well as those with no formal training. If we, truly, are responding to God's presence out of a pure heart of worship, and by or through our spirit, then our natural dance vocabulary will emerge. Whether this vocabulary is raising the arm or doing a triple pirouette should not matter; for it is through this genuine response to the Almighty where life is produced.
Herein lies the challenge: The untrained worship dancer must avoid the "fear of man's snare"; and the trained dancer must rely totally on God (not their God given gift). In conclusion, we (Spirit filled, mind-renewed, Christians) take that "step" of faith during praise dance, and awesomely observe God honor it through His manifest presence. We then submit to the Holy Spirit's drawing out of our spiritual reserves, and trust that the responsorial movement that comes forth will be a life giving, creative expression, that (not matter what the skill level might be) sets captives free.
